Feb 02, 2026

In the midst of winter, the chill in the air makes many travelers dream of hopping in the RV and heading south for warmer weather. If that sounds like you, we’ve compiled a list of the best RV destinations in the United States to beat the winter blues.

Yuma, AZ

There’s no better place to escape the winter blues than Yuma! Ranking among the sunniest cities in North America, this desert destination in Arizona offers beautiful year-round weather and plenty of opportunities for fun and relaxation. For nature lovers, the Imperial National Wildlife Refuge offers unbeatable birdwatching, with more than 200 migratory bird species visiting throughout the year. Hikers may also spot bighorn sheep, wild burros, and mule deer along the trails. For those looking to stay awhile, Del Pueblo RV Park is an excellent place to set up camp for the winter. The park offers water, sewer, and electric hookups, allowing you to make the most of your RV during your stay. Guests will also find plenty of on-site activities, including bocce ball, pickleball, a woodworking room, and a pool.

Gulf Shores, AL

This beautiful Gulf Coast oasis perfectly blends the quiet comforts of Southern living with the tropical vibes of blue waters and sun-soaked beaches. Gulf Shores, Alabama, is an ideal destination when things get blustery back home. For those looking to settle in for a while, Sugar Sands RV Resort offers both short and long-term options for snowbirds and is conveniently located just five miles from the beach. The resort features a pool, fitness center, and a variety of other amenities. Full hookups and Wi-Fi are also available, making it easy to catch the big game or enjoy a movie night in models such as the Luminate HH36, which includes a 50-inch LED Smart TV in the living room, a 32-inch TV in the bedroom, and an exterior 32-inch TV for outdoor viewing. Beyond the resort, Gulf Shores offers plenty of attractions to explore, including the Naval Aviation Museum and the Bon Secour Wildlife Refuge.

Fort Myers, FL

Everybody knows Florida is a top snowbird destination, but many travelers overlook Fort Myers when deciding where to go. This coastal city offers a balanced mix of beach bumming and city life alike. Early in the year, Fort Myers hosts the Edison Festival of Lights Grand Parade, which includes an antique car show, a Spring Garden Festival, and a variety of other festivities. Feeling lucky? Try your hand at the Seminole Casino Hotel, featuring table games, slots, and several dining options. For those seeking a long-term stay, Blueway RV Park may be the perfect fit. With two heated pools, a hot tub, and a 9-hole putting green, the park delivers a true luxury resort experience. If you plan to hit the links and need a motorcoach with ample storage for golf clubs, models like the Inception HD have you covered. Thanks to the basement pass-through storage, you’ll have plenty of room to bring all your favorite gear and equipment.

Santa Fe, NM

Located in the deserts of the Southwest, Santa Fe is a vibrant oasis rich in culture. The city boasts a thriving art scene, with numerous galleries and markets to explore and appreciate. One of the most well-known areas is Canyon Road, home to a half mile of galleries and boutiques. Santa Fe is also home to the Loretto Chapel staircase, a popular tourist attraction centered around a church staircase with mysterious origins. For snowbirds considering a longer stay, several RV camping options are available in New Mexico, including Santa Fe Skies RV Park. This campsite offers everything you may need, including full hookups, Wi-Fi, and walking trails, and even features a fenced dog run for your furry companions!

If you’re looking to escape the winter cold, the U.S. has numerous welcoming communities perfect for soaking up the warmth. Whether you’re heading out for a week or settling in for the entire season, adventure awaits when you hop in your RV and head for your next great escape.
