Geocaching, Minecraft Earth and Pokémon Go Tips!

October 17, 2019

Perhaps the most widely known and oldest of the three, Geocaching uses a smartphone or other handheld mobile device equipped with GPS to locate a set of coordinates where you will find a geocache or a small trinket. Expect to find a box, jar or other type of container with a log book and pen or pencil, sign your name, swap out the trinket e.g., a toy car, special rock, a magnet –with one of your own and plan your next hunt. This is the average experience but can vary quite a bit so your adventure may be different.

There are more than 2.5 million active geocache in the world. To get started, create a free account on geocaching.com and download the app on your mobile device. To plan your geocaching trip in your Axis® RUV™, type in the location where you would like to search on the geocache app. Once you have narrowed down the area where you will find a geocache, continue to use the GPS on the app to find your treasure. Here’s some Axis features to support your treasure hunt!

  • Euro-styled cabinetry with soft-close hidden hinges
  • Dash workstation with 110V & 12V outlets
  • Winegard® ConnecT 2.0 WiFi/4G/TV Antenna

Pokémon Go is a game that works similarly to geocaching except that it uses Augmented Reality –  a technology that superimposes a computer-generated image on a user’s view of the real world, thus providing a composite view. The goal of Pokémon Go is to find and capture Pokémon’s which are hidden around the globe in real locations.

Download the Pokémon Go app on your mobile device and follow the prompts to set up your account and watch an interactive tutorial of how to play. You will see your player which is your avatar in your location and any nearby Pokémon. Capture them and earn points. To capture more Pokémon, take a road trip. As long as you have a WiFi signal, you can play the game. Take your A.C.E.® Class A RV on the road and take advantage of the Winegard® ConnecT™ WiFi Extender + 4G to catch those Pikachu and Pidgey’s (Pokémon). Other A.C.E. features that will keep you on top of your game are:

  • Touchscreen radio with Bluetooth®, navigation and SiriusXM®
  • Dash workstation with 110V & 12V outlets
  • USB charging ports throughout the coach
