An RUV is a “Recreational Utility Vehicle.” The term was created a few years back to reference smaller motorhomes with features similar to those found in the popular SUV automobile market. The RUV’s in Thor Motor Coach’s line-up has modern interiors, smooth lines, and compact living spaces. Operating and parking an RUV is intuitive and easy.
An RUV is a recreational vehicle or an “RV.”
Driving the RUV is similar in controls to a Class A or Class C RV. The compact size alleviates stress, and many people feel at ease because of the smaller overall footprints of the RUV’s.

Axis® RUV Specs
The Ford Transit based RUV’s (Compass & Gemini) have a 3500-lb trailer hitch, while the Class A models (Axis & Vegas) come with 8,000-lb hitches. Towing capacity is determined from the difference between the GVWR (gross vehicle weight rating) and the GCWR (gross combined weight rating) for the vehicle. Example: The Vegas 27.7 has a GVWR of 14,050-lbs, and a GCWR of 22,000-lbs, allowing 7,950-lbs of towing capacity. Click here for more info on Weights, Towing and Capacities.
