Best Firework Shows in the U.S.

Summer has barely begun, and July 4th is already around the corner. It’s time for cookouts, parades, and – of course – fireworks! Luckily, the U.S. has terrific firework displays you can visit throughout the country. Grab the family and see what’s happening in the U.S. of YAY!

According to The Points Guy and Travel Channel, these are the best firework shows:

New York, New York

The annual Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks celebration in New York City is considered the country's largest pyrotechnic show! Fireworks are shot from multiple barges along the East River near the Brooklyn Bridge, where spectators can watch in amazement. In addition to fireworks, the event features performances by A-list artists. This year’s show will be paying homage to the theme of “American cinema.” You can expect to see tributes to the Wizard of OzStar WarsSuperman, and E.T.

Washington, D.C.

Our nation’s capital goes big with its fireworks display during the annual Capitol Fourth celebration! An explosion of colors illuminates the night sky, shining over historical monuments and memorials in the area. Viewing areas include the Lincoln and Thomas Jefferson Memorials, among others. However, the best spot is the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol. If you’re looking to avoid crowds, book a boat cruise on the Potomac River for another great view of the fireworks!

Chicago, Illinois

Navy Pier offers the perfect view of Fourth of July fireworks in the Windy City. Hop aboard the 196-foot Ferris wheel before the show starts, and you’ll be in awe. To make the holiday even classier, take in the show from a dinner cruise on Lake Michigan. The Pier was originally built to honor Navy veterans, so it’s the perfect patriotic place to spend the holiday!

Addison, Texas

They say everything’s bigger in Texas, and Addison’s annual Kaboom Town fireworks display is no exception! More than 1,500 pounds of fireworks are used for the show. In fact, it has been recognized by the American Pyrotechnics Association as one of the top 10 fireworks displays in the country. While most firework shows go on for 20 minutes, Addison's is one of the longest in the nation at a whopping 30 minutes!

Key West, Florida

Like key lime pie needs meringue, the Key Lime Festival wouldn’t be complete without the Fourth of July fireworks show. Visitors can observe the fireworks from the Edward B. Knight Pier, where they can party with live music, food, and more. For a magnificent view, head to Higgs Beach or the Casa Marina. Smathers Beach is also a great spot to view the show. It’s a bit further away, but it’s usually less crowded. This fireworks show is the perfect end to five days of fruity fun!

Pasadena, California

AmericaFest is one of the Rose Bowl stadium’s longest-running traditions and one of the largest fireworks shows in Southern California! This family event includes live entertainment, motorcycle stunts, exhibits, and vendors. If you plan on getting there early, you can keep your little ones occupied at the Family Fun Zone held on-site. You won’t regret repping your stars and stripes here!

Denver, Colorado

Believe it or not, the biggest Fourth of July celebration in Denver takes place July 3rd at the annual Independence Eve Celebration in Civic Center Park. The event consists of local music, food trucks, and a performance by the Colorado Symphony. You can admire the fireworks as they blast off from the City and County Building roof across the street from the park. We’re confident this show will have you ooh-ing and ahh-ing!

Nashville, Tennessee

You’ll find fun for the whole family at the annual Music City July 4th: Let Freedom Sing celebration in Nashville! This event attracts the largest Fourth of July crowd in the South. It features daylong activities, musical performances by A-list country artists, and the region's largest fireworks show. The display is a 27-minute spectacle choreographed to a live performance by the Grammy-winning Nashville Symphony. How cool is that?!
