Arches National Park: Your Must-Do Itinerary

Apr 27, 2026

If you’re searching for sights that truly can’t be found anywhere else, Arches National Park is the perfect destination for your next adventure. With more than 2,000 natural stone arches throughout the park, it’s a one-of-a-kind vacation destination that is sure to leave you in awe as you explore its trails and crest its peaks. Check out our list of the spots you have to check out while visiting these natural wonders!

Sites to See

Arches National Park is home to the highest concentration of natural stone arches anywhere in the world. As a result, these formations are among the park's biggest attractions. Many of the most iconic views can be seen from the road or along hiking trails, including the striking Windows Section. This collection of massive rock formations features circular openings reminiscent of windows and draws visitors from around the globe. Another popular destination is Devil’s Garden, which showcases an array of dramatic rock formations and fins. Within Devil’s Garden lies Landscape Arch, North America’s longest arch, spanning 306 feet. Visitors should keep in mind that the park is massive, covering a staggering 76,000 acres, meaning drive times should be factored in when planning your picture-perfect trip.

The Rockstars

Two formations stand above the rest in terms of fame and notoriety. The first is Balanced Rock, which is every bit as impressive as it sounds. This natural wonder features a precariously perched boulder atop a towering rock spire. While it may initially appear to be an optical illusion or gravity-defying circus trick, this formation occurred naturally and remains untouched by human hand. The other is perhaps the park’s most iconic landmark: the Delicate Arch. Proudly featured on the Utah state license plate, Delicate Arch has become a symbol of the state itself, drawing a steady stream of tourists to the park each year.

Stargazing

One unique distinction the park holds is its International Dark Sky Park designation. Locations with this certification are recognized as exceptional places to experience the brilliance of the night sky, including meteor showers and shooting stars. While there are numerous spots within the park that offer incredible views after dark, the National Park Service website highlights Devil’s Garden as a particularly great spot for stargazing.

Camping Options

If you’re looking to do a little boondocking, Arches National Park is an excellent place to start. Camping within the park is limited, with the Devil’s Garden Campground serving as the only site in the park. From March 1st to October 31st, reservations are required for the campground, while the park operates on a first-come, first-served basis throughout the winter months. Reservations fill up quickly, so it’s recommended to book a spot roughly 6 months before you plan on visiting. While Devil’s Garden does accommodate RVs, it does not offer hookups, meaning you’ll have to rely on your motorhome’s dry camping capabilities to get you through.

Fortunately, Thor Motor Coach has numerous options built to fit the occasion. For example, models like the Inception® 38DX Super C RV feature a 100-gallon freshwater tank, allowing you to shower, wash dishes, or cook without a water connection. This diesel model also includes a 100-watt solar charging system, providing access to off-grid power through the sun's rays, a plentiful resource in the desert.

If you prefer full amenities, several RV parks are located just outside Arches. One such option is the Moab RV & Glamping Resort, just 15 minutes from the park, offering full hookups, Wi-Fi, showers, and more.

If you’re looking for spectacular sights and unforgettable memories, Arches National Park is an ideal location for your next adventure. Whether you’re traveling solo or with the whole family, this desert landscape promises a memorable and enriching experience.
